Jinji Garland

Jinji has been teaching Pilates since 2003 and has been passionate about exploring movement, both during her training and career as a professional dancer and very much in her subsequent teacher training.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Diploma in Dance Teaching ( CDTA Vaganova Classical Ballet), two comprehensive yoga teacher training 500 hour qualifications in Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga ( YogaPoint, India and YogaLondon) and is certified in her favourite movement technique: GYROTONIC® (Level 1 and 2) and GYROKINESIS®.

She is fully, comprehensively trained in Pilates Mat and Equipment (beginners to advanced and ante-natal) with Body Control Pilates and still regularly trains in the Classical method.

First introduced to Pilates as a dance student, the focus and precision of the technique helped immensely with her dance career and injury prevention. Since then she has taught and currently teaches Yoga, Dance and Pilates at leading studios throughout Melbourne and London, also having taught in Mumbai. She has taught Pilates in therapy centres (liaising closely with osteopaths and physiotherapists), dance colleges, and high paced studios, currently teaching at established well-respected London yoga studios and can teach a variety of styles, preferring a classical method emphasis, focussing on strength and flow.

The study of GYROTONIC® (Level 1 and 2) and GYROKINESIS ® has truly inspired her to find a higher octave of movement in its integration, accessing of energetic lines and fluid patterning and she loves to share this inspiring method - as well as the effective, functional alignment training of Pilates.

Jinji's extensive training has brought her to many methods over the years, besides Classical and Contemporary dance, such as Yoga, Feldenkrais, Qi Gong and other somatic techniques. She uses imagery and metaphor as a way of engaging the imagination and accessing movement pathways.

She loves anatomy and biomechanics, having undertaken repeated studies and loves to share her passion for movement with all of her clients. She aims to tailor each session to meet the needs and demands of the individual - prioritising efficiency, flow and grace, with a special focus on breath. Also she provides a thorough and supportive environment of teaching, encouraging the methods to be integrated into the body naturally and improve well- being.
